Sometimes you see a book or hear about a book and you have this feeling that it just might become a new favorite. When I get that particular feeling I usually don't pick it up for a long time for fear of being disappointed. This year I want to rectify that. I plan to read all of these books by the end of the year, and hopefully give them all five stars. Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon This is the fourth book in the Outlander series. After being adapted to TV this book series has been everywhere. I was a little skeptical at first, since I've never been a big fan of romance-centered books or historical fiction. That has changed, at least the part about historical fiction. I liked … [Read more...]
BookTube-A-Thon 2018 TBR
It's that time of year again. This year will be my third time participating, and second year documenting it here on my blog. If you're a fan of booktube, I'm sure you've heard of BookTube-A-Thon. If not, it's an annual event hosted by the always awesome Ariel Bissett. From July 30th till August 5th the goal is to read as much as possible. There are seven reading challenges, as well as video challenges and I think even bookstagram challenges to do if you want to. Here are the seven reading challenges along with the books I plan on reading: 1/ Let a coin toss decide your first read. I want to start off with something potentially heartwarming, so the two options for the coin toss will be … [Read more...]
(A Very Ambitious) Readathon by Zoë TBR
Tomorrow, Saturday March 3rd Zoë from the youtube channel ReadbyZoe is hosting a 24-hour readathon. There are no rules or challenges, but like Zoë, I'll be trying to catch up on a series. I'm so excited, it's my first time really participating in a 24-hour readathon. The official hashtag on twitter is #readathonbyzoe, I'll be trying to post regularly throughout the readathon on there. I'm only planning on reading one book, and I'm almost absolutely certain I won't be able to finish it. It's one I've wanted to read ever since it came out last year, but never got around to because I didn't want to deal with the inevitable pain I'll suffer reading it before the next book comes out in … [Read more...]
Books I Want to Reread
After reading Aurora's post about which books she wants to revisit, I was inspired to do it myself. So here I am, happily stealing her idea. I have never been much of a rereader, which is a shame. In the never-ending pursuit of finding the perfect story, it's easy to forget about all of the great stories you've already experienced and loved. So I've decided I want to make sure to reread some of the books I know I love, as well as some I remember loving when I was younger, but which I haven't revisited since. What We Talk About When We Talk About Love by Raymond Carver. In high school, we read a couple of the stories from this awesome short story collection. A couple of years ago I read … [Read more...]
The TBR Book Tag
The TBR book tag was created by Rachel from the A Perfection Called Books way back in 2014. I've been looking for a fun tag to do and I thought this one would be great, so here we are! How do you keep track of your TBR pile? I don't have a specific place for my unread books on my shelves. I've considered dividing them into read and unread, but I've been too lazy to actually take all of my books off of the shelves and organize them. I remember which books I've read, so it's not a problem for me to quickly pick an unread book off of my shelves anyway. I also really like reading on my kindle, so I have some tbr books there as well. Besides the ones that I own, there's my GoodReads tbr. … [Read more...]
BookTube-A-Thon 2017 TBR
BookTube-A-Thon 2017 begins on monday (24th - 30th of July). I'm so excited to participate this year. I did participate last year, but something came up during the middle of the week that made me unable to finish the readathon. This year I've made sure I have as much time as possible to just read and be apart of all the awesomeness. I had a hard time deciding which books to pick for the different challenges, so don't be surprised if I change it completely sometime during the week. Here is my maybe-probably TBR for the week. Read a book with a person on the cover - One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus Read a hyped book - This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab Read a book … [Read more...]
Road Trip & Vacation tbr
So far I've read three of the books on my June TBR. The ones I haven't gotten to yet are still on my list, which I hope to finish before the end of the month. This is going to be a short list of books I want to enjoy while on vacation. I am pretty sure I won't be able to get to all of them, but you've got to be optimistic right? I basically just want to read all the books. I'm going on a Road Trip with a friend down the west coast starting in Portland, going all the way down to San Diego and then back to Portland. From there I'm flying to Los Angeles and staying with family for a couple of days before I go to Boston to visit another good friend. I'm so excited I can't wait. Hopefully I'll … [Read more...]
My Ambitious June TBR 2017
Sometimes you just want to read all the books at the same time and that's when the overly ambitious TBR comes into play. At the end of June I'm going on a road trip from Portland to San Diego and back again with a friend I haven't seen the last two years. I'm so excited, but I really want to get some reading done before I go. Ink and Bone and Paper and Fire by Rachel Caine I have a feeling this is right up my alley. I don't know much about it, but the series is called The Great Library. Everything involving bookception is bound to be amazing. The third and final book, Ash and Quill, comes out July 11th and it would be awesome to be completely absorbed in the world without waiting too … [Read more...]
Currently Reading & What to read next?
Currently Reading I'm almost done with the audiobook book of The Rose Society by Marie Lu and oh my gods I'm so invested in all of the characters. The first book was enjoyable, but I didn't feel the need to continue the series right away. Then I saw the audiobook was available on Overdrive and went for it. I'm so glad I did, it's so much darker than the first one. Adelina really embraces her dark side and I love it. The second book I'm currently reading is And I Darken by Kiersten White. I only just started it and am about 50 pages into it at the moment. I'm already intrigued by the characters. I'm pretty sure I'll love it. Want to read next I've been really lucky the past month. I've … [Read more...]
