Daily updates: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 I didn't stick completely to my TBR (or at all), but I read a bunch of amazing books anyway, no harm done. I completed all of the reading challenges, even the one where I had to read a book entirely outdoors. At the end of the BookTube-A-Thon I read a total of 10 books, two novels, two novellas and six graphic novels. Different than you - Binti by Nnedi Okorafor (3/5) Outside - Home by Nnedi Okorafor (4/5) Person on the cover - One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus (3/5) Hyped book - This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab (4/5) Cover buy - The October Faction Vol. 1 by Steve Niles (4/5) One day - Spill Zone by Scott Westerfeld … [Read more...]
Day 7: BookTube-A-Thon 2017
Challenges The Instagram challenge for day seven was to take a picture of your shelves, also known as a shelfie (#btatshelfie). It's supposed to be an easy task, but I'm not very satisfied with how my shelves look at the moment. But in order to complete the challenge, I chose the prettiest shelf I had and used that as my entry. Reading I finished Home by Nnedi Okorafor outside right before it started raining. While I really liked the first novella in the series, I liked this a lot more and I really really want the next one RIGHT NOW! I've successfully completed all seven reading challenges, which I honestly hadn't counted on. The reason I was able to complete them all is also mainly … [Read more...]
Day 6: BookTube-A-Thon 2017
Challenges The Instagram challenge for day six was to take a picture of your current read and incorporate the mood of the book into the picture (#btatmood). At the end of the day I planned on rereading Through the Woods by Emily Caroll, but I didn't get around to it. Since I planned to read it and I opened it for a second, I think it technically counts as one of my current reads. It was also the only book I could come up with a fairly easy and doable picture idea for. So that's what I did. Choosing the easy way out since 1993! Reading I went to the comic book store and bought five graphic novels. I wanted to buy more of course, but you've got to draw the line somewhere, right? I picked up … [Read more...]
Day 5: BookTube-A-Thon 2017
Challenges The Instagram challenge for day five was to take a picture of your current read with food (#btatyum). I cheated (again). Instead of food, I used a glass of coke, and instead of my current read I used a book on my ever growing tbr. The excuse for not using my current read was that I was reading on my iPad and my kindle all day. It would have been a rather dull picture. Or at least that's what I keep telling myself. Reading Not knowing what to pick up next from my TBR, I started browsing which graphic novels my library offered electronically. That means instead of sticking to the books I meant to read, I turned it into a graphic novel day. WOHOO. I started the day off … [Read more...]
Day 4: BookTube-A-Thon 2017
Challenges The Instagram challenge for day four was to cosplay as a one of your favorite characters (#btatcosplay). I felt really shitty, but my hair looked okay. So I decided to dress up in something inspired by the goddess Freja, who appears in Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman as well as a lot of other books. I just really love everything related to the old norse myths. Reading I started my third book (not counting Lady Midnight as I only read the last 220 pages of it). I read all of This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab and loved it. This one counts as my book for the 'read a hyped book'-challenge. Can you believe it's my first Victoria Schwab book, she's everywhere, her books are so … [Read more...]
Day 3: BookTube-A-Thon 2017
Challenges The Instagram challenge of the day is to take a picture of your current read in any type of reflection (#btatreflect). So far this is the instagram challenge entry I'm most proud of. I really love doing these challenges and seeing what other people have come up with from the same prompt. Reading I've been feeling a bit under the weather lately, and today was just really bad in that sense. I spent a lot of time napping and binge watching BooksandLala's videos. I had a hard time concentrating on reading, but I powered through and finished One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus. This means that I've successfully completed the 'read a book with a person on the cover'-challenge. I'm … [Read more...]
Day 2: BookTube-A-Thon 2017
ChallengesThe instagram challenge of the day was to take a picture of a favorite classic (#btatoldfave). As always, I had a hard time choosing which book to use, in the end I went with Crow: From the Life and Songs of the Crow by Ted Hughes. I've only read this poetry collection once, but it took me by storm and I definitely want to reread it soon.ReadingI started and finished Bintiby Nnedi Okorafor, which completes two challenges. Those being the one I intended to read it for, a book about characters very different than you, and read a book in one day. Now I kind of want to read the second in this novella series during BookTube-A-Thon as well. After finishing Binti, I picked … [Read more...]
Day 1: BookTube-A-Thon 2017
ChallengesInstagram challenge of the day: Draw the rest of the cover of a book. I guess I cheated a bit, since this is an illustration from inside the book and not the one on the cover. The reason I chose to 'complete' this illustration is because I really love Ralph Steadman's art. It has this kind of manic and highly energetic vibe that I find inspiring. I tried my best to just draw something without planning anything or thinking, but an illustrator I am not. It was a lot of fun though, and I've seen a lot of amazing drawings from other people (#btatrest).I want to do at least some of the video challenges this week, but I don't know if I have the guts to post them, … [Read more...]
BookTube-A-Thon 2017 TBR
BookTube-A-Thon 2017 begins on monday (24th - 30th of July). I'm so excited to participate this year. I did participate last year, but something came up during the middle of the week that made me unable to finish the readathon. This year I've made sure I have as much time as possible to just read and be apart of all the awesomeness. I had a hard time deciding which books to pick for the different challenges, so don't be surprised if I change it completely sometime during the week. Here is my maybe-probably TBR for the week. Read a book with a person on the cover - One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus Read a hyped book - This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab Read a book … [Read more...]
