I’m almost done with the audiobook book of The Rose Society by Marie Lu and oh my gods I’m so invested in all of the characters. The first book was enjoyable, but I didn’t feel the need to continue the series right away. Then I saw the audiobook was available on Overdrive and went for it. I’m so glad I did, it’s so much darker than the first one. Adelina really embraces her dark side and I love it.
The second book I’m currently reading is And I Darken by Kiersten White. I only just started it and am about 50 pages into it at the moment. I’m already intrigued by the characters. I’m pretty sure I’ll love it.
Want to read next
I’ve been really lucky the past month. I’ve enjoyed the majority of the books and graphic novels I’ve read and even loved a few.
As soon as I finish The Rose Society I want to continue on and read the conclusion of the trilogy, The Midnight Star by Marie Lu. I have the ebook on my kindle, but I am enjoying the second book as an audiobook so much that I just have to do the same with the final book.
With ACOWAR just released and all the hype, I feel like I need to read ACOTAR and ACOMAF to know what all the fuss is about. I know Sarah J. Maas is very bad at representation and makes some very unfortunate thoughtless mistakes to put it lightly, and when I read Empire of Storms I was very especially disappointed with the direction she pulled one of the characters in. I had a lot of problems with that book, mainly because every single character was straight and had to have a soulmate (unrealistic much). Even if I end up hating it that’s totally fine, sometimes it’s nice to hate read. But really I’m just too curious not to read the series.
The last book that’s been on my mind recently that I want to get to is The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco. I preordered it because I was instantly sold by the title and the cover, but it’s just been sitting on my shelf. From what I’ve read it’s about a girl who’s different from the rest of her family of witches. She’s a necromancer and accidentally brings her brother back to life, which causes her to be sent away to train under an older experienced bone witch. It sounds right up my alley.
Those are the books I’m currently reading and the ones I’m excited to start in the near future.
