So far I’ve read three of the books on my June TBR. The ones I haven’t gotten to yet are still on my list, which I hope to finish before the end of the month. This is going to be a short list of books I want to enjoy while on vacation. I am pretty sure I won’t be able to get to all of them, but you’ve got to be optimistic right? I basically just want to read all the books.
I’m going on a Road Trip with a friend down the west coast starting in Portland, going all the way down to San Diego and then back to Portland. From there I’m flying to Los Angeles and staying with family for a couple of days before I go to Boston to visit another good friend. I’m so excited I can’t wait. Hopefully I’ll be able to fit in a couple of books here and there. I know nothing better than winding down with a good book after an eventful day.
The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan
I want to reread the first book in The Trials of Apollo series before starting the second book. I read it when it first came out last year and as usual with Rick Riordan’s work I loved it. This series follows the god Apollo, who has been cast out of Olympus by his father Zeus. Apollo is stripped of his powers and is now just like any other mortal teenage boy, except he still has the biggest ego. This results in a hilarious novel filled with adventure and greek myths come to life.
The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan
Rick Riordan’s books are always fun, fast-paced adventures that leaves you wanting more more more. This is the second book in The Trials of Apollo series. I preordered it and got it a few days after it was released, but I haven’t had time to read it yet. And as I said I really want to reread the first book before jumping into the sequel. But I think this would be a perfect vacation read.
Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire
This is the second book in the Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire. As far as I can tell it’ll be a trilogy. I adored the first book, Every Heart a Doorway, and the this one is a prequel to the first book. Every Heart a Doorway follows a group of children dealing with the aftermath of coming back to earth after having experienced their true homes. And Down Among the Sticks and Bones follows the twins Jack and Jill and their story before arriving at the home for wayward children.
Now I Rise by Kiersten White
I read and reviewed And I Darken in May and it’s safe to say that it’s one of the best books I’ve read so far this year. As soon as I finished it I wanted more, and finally on the 27th the sequel comes out. Now I Rise follows Lada, Radu and Mehmed on their journeys towards conquest.
